BOTOX® for Chronic Migraine
OnabotulinumtoxinA (BOTOX®) is FDA-approved as a preventive treatment for chronic migraine — defined as 15 or more headache days per month. It works by blocking the release of pain-triggering neurotransmitters from peripheral nerve endings, reducing the input that sensitizes the trigeminal pain system.
Clinical trials (the PREEMPT studies) demonstrated that BOTOX® reduces the number of headache days per month significantly in chronic migraine patients. Many patients experience a 50% or greater reduction in headache days.

What to Expect
Treatment involves a series of small injections across the head and neck every 12 weeks. Most patients notice improvement after 2–3 treatment cycles. We monitor response carefully and adjust protocols as needed.
